Pamela Stoicev is a Bulgarian American artist residing in Long Island City, New York. She is interested in formal elements and how to create emotional, yet balanced forms with color, line and texture. Stoicev employs a variety of materials for layers of transparency and depth. Her preferred method of painting is with a palette knife and considers her paintings as objects that share the same physical space as we do. Stoicev utilizes materials such as, oil pastel, flowers, resin, beeswax, latex, fabric and yarn, to create an environment for her viewers.

Currently, I am exploring the relationship between mental illness and spirituality. What is mental illness really? How does it feel to undergo a spiritual awakening? What is the connection between the two in the mind?
There is a very, very thin line between spiritual awakening and psychosis.
I am not only a painter. I am a Storyteller. Alongside my current work, that dives in the waters of mental illness, are excerpts. Of my thoughts. Of my mind.
What if, Psychedelics are a tool for healing mental illness by opening our awareness to the subtleties of our deepest fears?
What if, we can change the way society looks at mental illness by spiritually awakening as a community?
What if, instead of ingesting LSD and dropping out of college.. we take LSD and Heal ourselves? Heal our perception’s of life and in turn change our mental illnesses?
